Carnitine is an important co-factor for energy production from fats.
L-Carnitine is an amino acid found in high concentrations in human heart and liver tissue, where it participates in metabolizing fatty acids into energy by the mitochondria.
Carnitine also facilitates the metabolism of carbohydrates and enhances the rate of oxidative phosphorylation.
L-Carnitine works synergistically with Co-Q10, an antioxidant and energy co-factor that is found in the inner membrane of the mitochondria.
Elemental Free Base CARNITINE is 25% more potent than CARNITINE HCL. L-carnitine is 67% elemental carnitine. 735 mg of L-carnitine yields 500 mg elemental L-carnitine.
